I’m back.

by aileen on February 18, 2010

It’s been a tough year so far. I have been out for a few weeks just exhausted. I went to the doctor. It’s only the second time I’ve been to a doctor in the last 7 years (that tells you I was sick). I couldn’t focus, was tired ALL the time, depressed and put on 15lbs in the last month…

My wonderful doctor ran a whole load of blood tests, looking at my kidneys, my thyroid and of course (cos I’m THAT age) my hormones.. all the tests were clear and good. It looks like what had floored me was down to a major vitamin D deficiency (and some other minor things) Wow. I got a shot yesterday and took a supplement today and I’m already back. I actually have some energy and focus. Vitamin D is activated through sunlight and it’s been a cold winter (for Louisiana), we also, these days, have make-up with built in sunscreen, more protective clothes.. we need Vitamin D. We get it from Oily fish, egg yolks, cheese and foods that have D added (cereal, milk etc). I’m no expert but have been shocked by how bad this had made me feel. I intend now to learn a lot more about my body, and what it needs. Big wake up call.

In short, I’m back – if I have neglected any of you I’m sorry. I have energy again and am ready to rock!

Roy. I’m just a mirror. People’s comments say more about themselves than me! Thank you.

It was good to have you back today :) Here too in the UK its been pretty lousy, and I have been missing my Italian sun and regular fish. I learned too that the body can store it for about 25 days so I guess there is always a delay before any negative change kicks-in. After our call today, I went and had some Mackerel fillets on toast. Tinned fish never tasted better :)

It’s great to have my energy back. I’m taking supplements to get my body back to normal and then in 3 months I’ll go back and check again. That will confirm what if something else is causing it. I don’t usually discuss health online but learned so much from this that I wanted to share. I have no excuses not be mega successful now.
I miss tinned mackeral fillet – harder to get here!
