Saturday Video

This is definitely worth a watch.
Lesson learned: keep the marshmallow in mind!

Tom Wujec presents some surprisingly deep research into the “marshmallow problem” — a simple team-building exercise that involves dry spaghetti, one yard of tape and a marshmallow. Who can build the tallest tower with these ingredients? And why does a surprising group always beat the average?

I want to be one of the crazy ones.
This an apple ad from 1997. Still makes me smile. Still makes me glad I use a mac.

Saturday Video

This title of this Saturday blog post may have to be changed to Saturday TED Video.

I hadn’t heard of Temple Grandin until recently. There is a movie coming out soon about her life starring Claire Daines. After watching this I’m fascinated.

“Temple Grandin, diagnosed with autism as a child, talks about how her mind works — sharing her ability to “think in pictures,” which helps her solve problems that neurotypical brains might miss. She makes the case that the world needs people on the autism spectrum: visual thinkers, pattern thinkers, verbal thinkers, and all kinds of smart geeky kids.”

Saturday Video

You may have already seen this, it’s always worth watching again. It’s phenomenal (and I don’t say that easily). Grab yourself a coffee, curl up with your laptop on the sofa..it’s an hour and 16 minutes that will make you laugh, cry, and live just a lot harder to achieve your dreams.

From TED “In 2007, Carnegie Mellon professor Randy Pausch, who was dying of pancreatic cancer, delivered a one-of-a-kind last lecture that made the world stop and pay attention. This moving talk will teach you how to really achieve your childhood dreams. Unmissable.”

Since then Randy has died, but I have a feeling this will help him live forever

Saturday Video

by aileen on January 9, 2010

Every Saturday I am going to post a video that has made me smile, made me think or made me something during the week.

Sit down with a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the wisdom of Coach John Wooden today… He’s nearly 100 and wiser than his years! (via TED – my favorite video resource)

With profound simplicity, Coach John Wooden redefines success and urges us all to pursue the best in ourselves. In this inspiring talk he shares the advice he gave his players at UCLA, quotes poetry and remembers his father’s wisdom.
